Beethoven’s epic Piano Concertos Nos 1 and 3 brim with loveliness and elegance.

Don’t miss out on ICO’s journey with Beethoven performed with verve by and renowned Pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout.

Beethoven epic piano concertos are showcased by Irish Chamber Orchestra and renowned Pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout.  In Piano Concertos Nos 1 and 3 there is a loveliness and elegance that demonstrates Beethoven as the composer who radically led the way towards the Romantic era that was to follow.  It’s a coming-of-age story. Piano Concerto 1 reflects the work of a young man eager to make his mark on the music world with its thunderous opening cords.  Whereas Piano Concerto 3 is the music of an emerging giant stepping from his youthful period towards ingenuity and deafness.  The classical style with delicate and ornamental features is replaced with a powerfully rousing melody.  Don’t miss out on ICO’s journey with Beethoven.

Irish Chamber Orchestra is Ireland’s most dynamic ensemble.  Mixing traditional repertoire with new commissions and collaborating with everyone from DJs to dance companies, ICO pushes the boundaries of what a chamber orchestra can do.  These days, you are as likely to find us at the Electric Picnic asMozartfest, but wherever we perform, the ICO delivers world-class concerts feted for their energy and style.

Born in South Africa, Kristian Bezuidenhout learned his trade in Australia and is a major recording artist with a prolific catalogue who loves working with ICO.  He has just completed recordings of the Beethoven Piano Concerti in 2022 and 2023 to great acclaim (Beethoven Album) .  Kristian is one of today’s most notable and exciting keyboard artists.  He released Concertos 1 and 3 last year,  which will be performed at Siamsa Tire.  This recording garnered a Critic Choice for Gramophone Magazine in 2022 and featured in the International Classical Music Awards 2023.
