O’Sullivan Family Gathering
1. FRIDAY 14th OCTOBER
(A) LAUNCH EVENTS – 2:30PM – 7PM
An Afternoon of events to Launch the Gathering at the Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, Ballinskelligs.
2:30pm Genealogist & Historian (Kay Caball – My Kerry Ancestors) along with updates from Nigel McCarthy – Genealogist (Y-DNA Research).
4pm Family Tree Sharing – Bring along your Family Tree to see if we can make some connections!
5:00pm Official Opening – The Mayor of Kerry along with local Politicians will officially open the 2022 Gathering with refreshments.
6pm Spectacle Mór – participation & presentation of the Family at the ‘Spectacle Mór’ outdoor Festival in Waterville/Cahersiveen.
2 . SATURDAY 15th OCTOBER
(A) ANCESTRAL COACH TRIP #1 :10AM – 3PM
Coach trip with renowned local Historian Eoin O’Neill from Foras Feasa to Ballinskelligs Castle (McCarthy Stroghold) constructed by the MacCarthy Mórs in the 16th century to protect the bay from pirates like its sister Castle of Ballycarbery Castle then hidden in Portmagee and standing watch over Valentia Harbour is the hybrid site of Reencaheragh Castle and fort site of the O’Sullivan stronghold & onto Castlecove near Sneem with lunch stop at Parknasilla Hotel before a return to Waterville/Cahersiveen.

(B) CLAN DINNER : 6PM – 11PM
The Butler Arms, Waterville will host the Chieftain’s reception, followed by dinner and entertainment from ‘The Spirit of Ireland’ traditional Irish Dance show followed by Ceili where you will learn some Irish Dancing & play an Instrument.
3 . SUNDAY 16TH OCTOBER
(A) ANCESTRAL & SPIRITUAL COACH TRIP #2 : 10AM – 6PM
12pm – Mass at Killarney Cathedral
1pm Picturesque Muckross House & Gardens
2pm Ross Castle & Dunloe Castle which at some stage were both either built, burnt or plundered by the McCarthys & O’Sullivans Clans. This trip includes a stop at the world famous Gap of Dunloe.
3pm Official Family Photograph
3.30pm Scattering Lunch at Kate Kearney’s Cottage in the majestic Gap of Dunloe before a return trip to Waterville/Cahersiveen.
