Food, Glorious Food!
Taste buds of Tralee, prepare to be zapped. The gloriously delicious Food Festival is returning to our streets after a two-year hiatus and already our mouths are watering at the prospect. This year, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Calor Ireland as our generous new sponsor, and let’s face it, who knows more about cooking than the company who has been ‘keeping it lit’ for over 80 years!
An exciting launch party is planned to kick off the four day event. Taking place in the glamorous and stylish Lottie’s Bar at The Ashe Hotel, guests will experience the popular ‘Beats & Birdcages’ and Valentia Island Vermouth Tasting at the launch. Tickets are €20 for 2 guests and booking can be made by calling 066 710 6300.
Tralee has so much to be proud of in terms of food, what with our luscious pasture-lands and abundant coastline, we boast some the finest ingredients in the world right here on our doorstep. To celebrate this, our chefs, restaurants, food producers, and growers will be taking part in this special event, showcasing everything foodie the region has to offer. The ever-popular Artisan Producers Food Market, which will run over Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st will take centre stage in The Square.
Also on Saturday and Sunday, you’ll get the chance to sample Street Food on the Mall, with wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers, burritos, nachos, and baked potatoes to mention but a few. If all that finger-licking food has you inspired to take up the pan, check out any one of our Cooking Demos where you’ll gain a bit of insider knowledge and practical advice from some of our best local chefs as they dazzle in a display of culinary skills and expertise. Street music, family fun, children’s activities, Taste Trails and the Farmers’ Market all feature to make this year’s Tralee Food Festival one not to be missed.
This year we are pleased to announce a course on Sustainability in the Hospitality Sector, designed for senior food and environment personnel to give them a comprehensive overview on the importance of sustainability in the workplace. The course will outline useful tips and practices that can be implemented to help meet each of the goals advocated by the UN. We will also provide information on what supports are available for businesses that wish to switch to a more sustainable business model.
